The last downside of a mic arm is wear & tear. There are people I know that could never get over the fact that they have something covering parts of their main or secondary monitors so they either gave up on the arm or used an extremely long one to make the mic hover over their heads (these long mic arms cost more obviously). If you are on a tight budget, having to pay 30$ or more is not exactly feasible.Ī problem that I have had myself is the adjustment period to having a piece of metal going across your peripheral vision while you are looking at your screen. The most obvious downside of a mic arm is having to buy one since this is another monetary investment. If they lengthened the mounting 'pin' (I guess is what I would call it) by another inch or two, it would clear perfectly. Also, when you mount your Yeti, be cautious of the USB cable and plug while adjusting the mic on the stand. It would be completely perfect if they added a thumb screw to the hinge closest to the desk mount because then I would have gotten the ability to tighten it for any conceivable mounting option. The weight of the mic in my admittedly unusual mounting position caused the arm to droop so I could only swing it aside, not up and down. I didn't give it 5 stars because I mounted the arm to a vertical surface instead of a horizontal (desk) surface, hoping to mount it so it could be swung up and down as needed and my desk hutch offered me a shelf divider that I could fit the arm into.

The arm is basically otherwise identical to a drafter's lamp swing arm.

The offset of the springs at the hinges does give the arm additional strength over competitors.

Overall an excellent product! Mounts easily, includes additional threads to mount the Yeti, plus plumbers tape.
